Requesting Data That Is Not Listed on Data Boutique

Data Boutique offers a broad catalog of datasets, but with the vast number of websites and potential data configurations, there may be times when a specific data source or format isn’t yet available. In these cases, buyers and sellers have the option to request new listings for a website, additional geographical coverage of an existing website, or a different schema.

How to Request a New Listing

If you’re looking for data that isn’t currently available, the first step is to submit a New Listing Request. This option is open to both buyers and sellers:

  • Buyers may request specific data that meets their needs, whether it’s a new website, a new geography for an existing website, or a different schema. This request signals to sellers that there’s demand for a particular dataset.
  • Sellers may also initiate a request to add new listings, especially if they want to expand their offerings to include new data sources, locations, or formats.

The Acceptance Process

Once a New Listing Request is submitted, Data Boutique evaluates it according to a standard set of guidelines:

  1. Website Review: We assess the requested website to ensure it meets our general acceptance criteria:
    • The website’s data must be publicly available.
    • No data containing personal information or intellectual property rights violations will be listed.
  2. Catalog Addition:
    • If a Buyer Requests It: The request creates a bid in the system, viewable by all sellers. This bid lets sellers know that a buyer (who remains anonymous) is actively interested in purchasing the requested data. Sellers can then decide whether to prepare and offer this dataset based on the interest shown.
    • If a Seller Requests It: After the listing is approved by Data Boutique, the new dataset can be created, allowing the seller to offer it for purchase.

Summary

Data Boutique’s New Listing Request feature offers flexibility for expanding the catalog based on user needs, whether initiated by buyers or sellers. This system supports a dynamic, demand-driven catalog that evolves to match the needs of the data community.

Key Points:

  • Requesting New Data: Buyers and sellers can request new data sources, geographies, or schemas.
